London’s best ground-up fundraising night out is back…
Dinner for One. Sat 15th Nov 2025.
A dinner saves a life.
Dinner for One works because generous hosts volunteer to have friends around for dinner. Guests donate what they would have spent on dinner in a restaurant, so each dinner raises at least £300-400, which is enough to save the life of someone living with HIV in the developing world for a year. One dinner saves one life, hence Dinner for One.
Ah, the Afterparty…
After dinner, at 10-11pm, everyone heads to Mayfair for the Afterparty at Clubhouse 1 Dover St. This has always been a night to remember, and we’re thrilled that legendary performer the D.E.Experience will be there. DJs play through until late and there’s a cash bar.
It’s a zero-cost event.
Some charities invest a lot of money to host a splashy event in the hopes of raising even more. Dinner for One is not like that. Because it’s a ground-up fundraiser and everything is donated we don’t spend a penny of AidsArk money to host the evening. So every Pound raised goes directly to help saving lives.
How easy is it being a host?
As easy as inviting a group of friends for Saturday night. How you do the dinner is completely up to you - informal standing chilli or three course sit down; any way works. Some people like to host together with a friend to share the effort, sometimes a good cook will host with a friend who has a good space for entertaining. We give you all the information you need to ask your friends to make their donation, and your dinner will have its own unique donation URL so you will know how your donations are doing and who has donated already. That’s all there is to it.
How does the night work?
We recommend you invite guests for no later than 7pm. That’s because you will need to be finishing up your dinner and heading into town by around 10.30pm. You will want to be at the Afterparty by 11.00pm ideally but of course you can arrive anytime. Your guests will automatically be on the guest list, there’s nothing you need to arrange. There is a cash bar in operation, and the performance usually takes place at around 12.30pm. DJs keep the music going through to after 02h00.
How much should friends donate?
It’s completely up to them. The goal is that each dinner raises at least £300-400, which will save someone’s life for a year, but many dinners raise a lot more than that. A guideline donation would be £50-60 per guest - or the equivalent of what they’d spend on dinner in a restaurant.
